وأضافت بيلوفا “نحن نفهم أن آباء هؤلاء الأطفال أضروا كثيراً من خلال أعمالهم الإرهابية في شمال وشرق سوريا، لكننا نعتقد أن الأطفال لا ذنب لهم وهم غير مسؤولين عن أفعال آبائهم”.
كما شددت بيلوفا على ضرورة إعادة جميع الأطفال الروس إلى بلادهم قائلةً”: وانطلاقاً من هذا المفهوم نقوم بإعادة الأطفال إلى وطنهم”.
فيما وصف الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش مخيّم الهول بأنّه “الأسوأ في العالم”، ودعا كلّ الدول المعنية إلى استعادة رعاياها منه في أقرب وقت.
