Suffering and pain; displacement and coercive transmigration; siege and hunger besides many other harsh scenes can be seen only in Syria , which Syrians are living daily after they become accustomed to face the hardest circumstances due to the fact their lives miss stability and comfort which can be found only in seeking asylum journey in the Arabic and European countries. Considering who decided to stay in Syria, they have to face regime brutality and death barrels in addition to almost daily bombardment in liberated territories.
Refugees suffering in nearby countries
has increased with prolonging the war. With no hope of ending the war soon bringing them back to their country and home to live in dignity, they live the pressure carried out by hosting countries particularly Lebanon and Jordan which hurt their hearts and make them taste humiliation as if they choose seeking asylum freely and being forced to escape arresting and death.
An advertisement was recently broadcasted widely on social media which was put on a shelf of juice in the Civil Consumer Facility linked to the government in Jordan ” Syrian brothers you are forbidden from buying candies ,sweets, juice and chips”. This angered and resented social media followers.
Syrian refugees in Jordan go to that facility in order to buy what they need by a special card of certain account offered by WFP. The facility justified that behavior that it is restricted to the agreement between the facility that allows Syrians to buy basic foodstuff only such as sugar, rice, oil. This is usually done through a bill the facility presents to WFP where it should not include what they call “Luxuries” such as juice, chips and candies forgetting that it is Ramadan so that there are necessities for children.
Despite the facility justifications, some find in this note some persecution apartheid against Syrians. On the other hand , some consider it something normal since WFP offers foodstuff to feed refugees and not for luxuries.
Activists demanded WFP through social media to modify the list of permitted foodstuff for Syrians in order to be able to buy all what they need regardless of its kind. The response was that UNHCR in Jordan sent refugees a text message informing them that they are allowed to buy juice in the facility.
They do not know that to Syrians dignity comes first. They do not want their juice , camps or even their help, but they want the world who stand still watching the bloody massacres committed by regime against the armed less Syrian people daily , to act affectively to put an end to the war so that they can return to their homes in which they hope to forget humiliation and cruelty they faced outside their country.
