Regime escalates the bombardment carried out by its warplanes and the Russian ones in addition to the barrel bombs which cause massive destruction and claim innocent souls of civilians in opposition areas in Aleppo city, and despite the suffocating siege that is forced to tighten the noose in order to drive the citizens to abandon their homes and displace them heading other areas in the northern of Syria fleeing hunger and death at once.
Yet, we notice that Aleppo citizens are holding on tight to their land along with that one of life for life goes on and because of the love for those who remained under the siege; the thing pushes them to look for alternative means and solutions enabling them to depend on the abilities that are available despite their simplicity to be replacement for the basic and necessary supplies and foodstuff, and which aid them to decrease the siege miseries.
In our visit to Aleppo besieged neighborhoods, we talked to Om-Yasser (aged 35 years) who has turned her house yard to a bed for agriculture; she told us with a clear satisfaction smile on her face:” we will not give up.. we will not let grieve and despair sneak into our hearts or homes that was known earlier with the joyful nights.. I plant the vegetables available to me(parsley, onions and tomatoes) so that participating in covering a rate of my family’s needs or even my neighborhoods’ who offer me a hand, especially after I lost my husband in regime prisons.. Ah we are fighting to survive and to live as circumstances increasingly getting bitter for refusing to yield to who pursues the policy of (hunger or surrender)”.
Om-Yasser is not the only one; there are many citizens in Aleppo who use their houses gardens in addition to groups of civilians who work on support the citizens in Aleppo to strength their withstand by finding foodstuff through planting the available agricultural lands, in order to price break inside Aleppo besieged city. Certainly the concentration is on the main crops (beans, Spinach, etc.) and the second- hand crops (lettuce, radish, chicory, etc.)
With the will of men whose first concern is offering a hand for others, many arboretums have been found to be ready for planting after preparing the lands to use those seedlings, and giving the chance for others to participate in planting other lands.
With the campaign “Aleppo Uprising”, we become see the roofs of buildings filled with white boxes filled with red soil with green- plants coming from it, the thing arouses optimism of life goes on despite the difficult circumstances befalling the area, and with citizens care of these crops, they will fruit Allah willing.
Om-Yasser crumped to herself with words entered our hearts like odorous breaths and aroma before hearing them with our ears :”We will eat trees leaves and fight the life of siege till soon relief Allah willing.. with the young will”,
