أصدرت وزارة الزراعة تحذيرًا عاجلًا للمزارعين من موجة صقيع متوسطة إلى قوية الشدة، تتوقع خلالها انخفاض درجات الحرارة لتبلغ ما بين -2 و -8 درجات مئوية، وأشارت إلى أنه من المتوقع الموجة التي بدأت ستستمر حتى فجر يوم الخميس 22 كانون الثاني، مع توقع أن تبلغ ذروة تأثيرها فجر يومي الثلاثاء والأربعاء
جاء هذا التحذير في إطار حرص الوزارة على تقليل الأضرار المحتملة على المحاصيل الزراعية والأشجار المثمرة، حيث دعت المزارعين إلى اتخاذ إجراءات وقائية عاجلة، وقد سبق أن أصدرت الوزارة توجيهات وقائية في 2 كانون الثاني، شملت إزالة الأعشاب من البساتين، ورش مواد تعزز مقاومة النبات مثل الفوسفيت وسيليكات البوتاسيوم والأحماض الأمينية، بالإضافة إلى إشعال الحراقات التقليدية كالإطارات البلاستيكية أو بقايا النباتات في الحقول المتأثرة، مع التشديد على تحصين البيوت المحمية وتقليل مرات الري
كما أوصت الوزارة بمراقبة درجات الحرارة باستمرار وتشغيل الحراقات عند الحاجة، مع تأجيل عمليات تقليم الأشجار في المناطق المعرضة للصقيع حتى فصل الربيع، والامتناع عن رش أي مبيدات قبل فترة الصقيع، وتهدف هذه الإجراءات مجتمعة إلى حماية المزروعات وتجنب الخسائر المحتملة خلال هذه الفترة
