وذكرت وزارة الإعلام في بيان رسمي أن اللقاء تطرق إلى الجهود التي تبذلها الوزارة لمكافحة المحتوى المضلل وخطاب الكراهية المنتشر على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، إلى جانب استعراض أبرز إنجازات الوزارة خلال الفترة الماضية
وأكد الوزير المصطفى حرص الحكومة السورية على تقديم كافة التسهيلات لوسائل الإعلام العربية والدولية الراغبة في زيارة سوريا، بما يتيح لها العمل بمهنية وحرية، ويساعد في نقل صورة واقعية عن الأوضاع الداخلية في البلاد
ويأتي هذا اللقاء ضمن سلسلة من التحركات الرامية إلى تطوير العلاقات الإعلامية بين سوريا والاتحاد الأوروبي، في ظل توجه رسمي نحو تعزيز الانفتاح والتعاون الدولي في المجال الإعلامي
وكان الوزير المصطفى قد قاد نشاطًا إعلاميًا موسعًا في نيويورك خلال مشاركة الوفد الرسمي برئاسة الرئيس أحمد الشرع في الدورة الثمانين للجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، حيث عرض أمام عدد من وسائل الإعلام والمراكز البحثية الدولية مضامين الخطاب الإعلامي والسياسي السوري الجديد الذي يؤكد دخول سوريا مرحلة جديدة من الحضور الدولي بعد سنوات من العزلة
