خشي العاهل الأردني الملك عبدالله الثاني من اليوم أنّ الأردنيين يرون بأنّ إسرائيل لا تعارض أيّ دور روسي على الحدود، وأنها لن تنزعج لو شاهدت الجيش الروسي كله على حدودها، على خلاف التواجد الإيراني الذي يمكن أن يتسبب باستهداف أجزاء من الأردن.
وأكد العاهل الأردني على أن الوجود الروسي في جنوب سوريا كان مصدراً للتهدئة، مشيراً إلى أن الفراغ الذي ستتركه روسيا هناك ستملأه إيران ووكلاؤها، ما دفعه وفق مراقبين للاستنجاد بروسيا لمنع تكثيف التواجد الروسي، وفق الصحيفة.
