Ergun Turan, chairman of the Turkish Housing Development Administration, TOKİ, confirmed on Tuesday that Syrians will not be given houses for free. However, Syrians may be allowed to buy empty apartments in installments.
Turan added that Syrians, who later acquire Turkish citizenship, are to be given facilities to buy appropriate apartments that provide decent living conditions.
The statement of Turan comes after the public in Turkey were enraged on Monday following President Erdogan’s statement that Syrians will be allocated houses from the available vacant houses owned by Housing Development Administration.
