When war comes to an end in our homeland, probably we will need to erase so many terms and expressions from the world dictionaries, hoping we might forget pains that insist to resident in our hearts.. the pains that refuse to leave our Home. That war is so stubborn; it has been over 6 years and the seventh one is about to end, war has not paused for a moment in which the helpless people can catch their breath.
How can we clear from the memories of external and internal refugees, the bloody scenes, martyrs, miseries of war, orphans, widows, the displaced people here and there in all the Syrian provinces and in the refuging countries. In every year of this grinding war, there are what distinguishes it from the other ones regarding suffering and pains.
In the launch of the revolution for dignity and freedom for which the people in Syria has went out to the street, we were in a shock for finding out the crimes of Hafez Assad, where in the eighties of last century during his tenure, horrofying massacres were committed and are recorded in history revealing Assad’s oppression strategy. At then, the Syrian people have headed the streets due to the anger and grieve they felt for the barbaric methode in which innocents were murdered back in the eighties such as Sayydnaya massacre, Jisr al-Shughur massacre, Hama massacre, etc.
However, what makes us overstep the shocking stage, is the weird reality we have been going through during the years of war away from histrory and photos of those massacres; since what we have experienced and seen with our own eyes considering crimes and killings, are enough to put Assad on the black list of humanity, in the end the title “Timeless” turns to be real for the Syrian people will rember him with their hearts filled with hatred and anger.
Finally, supporters of Assad believe that their commander has conquered, but Can we call what has happed in the previous years “victory”? The better question is: Is there any “Home” to fight or sacrify for? Probably we are so desperate that we no longer feel belonging for any Home. When are we going to wake up from our sleep realizing who and what is puting our lives and freedom at risk?
