“One of the most disturbing issues which destroys relationships is silence especially when it becomes needed “, Om Majed (aged 35) from liberated Idlib countryside said revealing her family problems which war has caused. The war that is still on has not been only about killing, ruining or arresting; it affected the Syrian people physically, psychologically, socially and economically .OM- Majed proceeded: ” I was not able to manage between my work at school which took me long hours and care about my disabled son who had left his right leg due to a raid carried out by regime military fighters on his school , that’s why my husband was forced to stay at home all the time; the thing puts our relationship in tension.”
Lately, working women rate increased because of the regressive economy, since it was not that common before the Syrian revolution. Before the Syrian revolution , most women used to raise children which is the basic duty of females besides housekeeping particularly on our eastern societies that refuse women’s work outside their houses where it is only proved in case it is urgent in husband absence.
However, nowadays life priorities and basic necessities force harsh sustenance in which man is unable to find a job that by it one gets his needs daily. Regime mainly targets men ; Hala (aged 25 years old from Idleb city): “My husband worked in regime facilities for long years. However, after liberating the city last year becoming out of regime hold and since my husband refused to work in similar facilities in regime nearby territory because he was called for reservist which he does not want at all serving Assad criminal regime. Man in grieve must know that what grieve him are not only his but they are also other’s . Now some women and I work in tailoring under charity in the city where Ileave my children at whom accompanied by my kids for long time .. It has changed a lot for families.”
Om-Hani talked about her situation in her house: ” Sleeplessness and repeated nervousness have made my matrimonial life unbearable ; my husband spent all his time at home after he lost his shop and its goods being seized by regime when it was on the way to the city under a pretext that some of the goods are Made in Turkey. That is why I decided to cook home-made dishes for people and resturants such as Warak-Alenab , Kebeh, Samposak and many others that require skill and effort, in order to improve the social situation of my family affected by recessive economy”.
How strong you are Syrian women!! .. You dies to raise your kids, and get worried about your children ‘s future attempting to find a suitable one for them.. You take responsibility for your homes helping your husbands . Hala keeps repeating: “there must be a day on which children grow young to be aware of the bestowments and pain of their parents .”
