Discussions and demands to cancel religion Islam subject in the Syrian schools have increased recently by Assad’s regime to be replaced with a subject of morals called ethics
The controversial question here arouses to all the Syrians.. how can a regime teach morals at the time it lost its legitimacy and violate humanitarian ethics?!
Samer from Idlib countryside revealed with a sense of mockery in his speech once knowing the news on social media, he said: “I have never paid any attention to regime media news since it lost all the humanitarian qualities, where everybody confirm that its statements are not important.. with the increase of voices calling for freedom in peaceful and armed ways, it is a must to fight it by forbidding teaching its belief and giving back religion subject its true importance in a clear way”.
All of us know that Assad’s regime from so long has made religion a second subject in the Syrian colloquium for pointing defining two classes in a week and low mark average in comparison with other subjects ; it is worthy to mention that this subject is taken into consideration in the general GPA of high school certificate which makes students careless about it that is not important with no role in their future academic applying.
With the confirmation of “Nabeel Saleh”, a depute in the Parliament from Jabla, that the parliament has discussed the suggestion of canceling religion subject in the Syrian schools replacing it with ethics subject; the fears of Syrians of teaching students “sectarianism” in school rather than “faith” increase.
Also the Muslim dispute “Fareh Hamsho” assured that it is not possible to separate morals from religion for being basic and coral in the religious teachings whatever religion is.
She called for keeping religion subject with adding a basic aspect of ethics whether in Islamic or the Christian books.
Ahmad, aged 25 years and from Idlib city said in ironical way: “regime since the ever fears a coming generation dreaming of freedom .. they used to teach us religion in faked books they themselves wrote according to what they want.. getting far away from any religious idea talking about hijab, jihad or calling to Allah, deleting anything that opposes regime policy .. Hafez Assad’s quotations were taught more than our prophet peace be upon him or Holy Quran.. of course fearing regime cruelty, teachers remained silence for being not allowed to even comment”.
Considering Samer who is aged 23 years and a friend of Ahmad since school, said: “alas my country students.. you have always studied colloquiums works for tyrant regime.. from minimizing the subject to canceling it.. for sure with the confusion of our students we give some quality for regime of no quality”.
Ahmad interrupt his friend saying: “of course with unmerciful regime killing its citizens destroying everything, even if regime put ethics subject as it claims, it will be a distorted picture of what a Syrian student should learn on reality?!”
