‘Maar Shoreen’ village is in the northern in Syria between Aleppo and Hama, and it is 3 kilometers away from ‘Maaret Alnoman’ city in the east. It is linked to Idlib province where its population is nearly 15 thousand persons according to statistics in 2010.
The rate of agricultural lands in it is almost 40 percent where it has many agricultural lands and fruit trees.
‘Maar Shoreen’ village witnessed demonstrations against regime where the latter erecting checkpoints in the outskirts of the village; near these checkpoints there were a stronghold of regime labelled ‘Wady Aldeaf’ which rebels liberated on 15/6/2014
Since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution, this village has been bombed by the checkpoints and the camp of ‘Wady Aldeaf’ which resulted in up to 130 martyrs where the continual shelling caused massive destruction to houses displacing citizens from the village to the eastern agricultural lands in the area according to the head of the local counsel in the village.
In a meeting with Mr. Najy Al-ali, a citizen who was displaced from the village, about the reason of his residence: “Regime earlier was shelling us with artillery missiles when the camp was still held by its forces, where we used to hide in shelters and refuge; however now this regime is using military fighters so that there is no way to escape these missiles but abandoning the village and building a new shelter in my agricultural land that was my source of living which turn to be a building”.
Not only citizens are leaving the village, but also their industries and workshops of big wealth; for there are many people who prepared their factories and build them on agricultural lands in fear of offensive targeting them and the poor class depends on the simple things in order to meet their daily basic needs and necessities where they are getting ready for winter by starting to cut the trees for warming.
This phenomena is not only taking place in ‘Maar Shoreen’ village only but in more than one area in ‘Maaret Alnoman’ where this phenomena( agricultural lands turning to be blocks) led to increase the prices of agricultural products and crops besides livestock, cheese and dairy products according to what a merchant of feeds has said.
