A wish that will never come true

In an interview Australian SBS TV channel conducted with Assad, the latter’s wish and belief were that history would say “this is the one who saved his country from the terrorists and from the external intervention.”
Assad thinks highly of himself and believes that history will remember him as a hero who saved Syria. Saving in Assad’s dictionary means destruction, brutality and killing. Assad can be assured that these are the words that will collocate with his name. His deeds in Syria, killing civilians, destroying hospitals and schools, torturing prisoners, besieging cities and towns prove this.
How can his wish that history will remember him as someone who saved Syria from external intervention come true if he himself in the same interview confirmed the good coordination with Iran and Russia? He was the one who invited these external forces to come to his rescue and then he saved Syria from external intervention? It seems Assad, as he talks too much, forgets what he says.
Talking about ceasefire, Assad said he never violated it. For Assad, killing Syrian civilians and targeting residential buildings even the use of chemical weapons are not violations but he believes it is his own way of retaliation against Syrians. Assad confirmed that ceasefire is working in some places only; these are the places which are totally under his control.
Assad in the interview did not deny that people demonstrated because they needed reform but said the story of children being attacked didn’t happen although human rights and UN reports confirmed his brutal deeds.
Assad also said that he supports every talk with every Syrian party. Can Mr. Assad tell us why he refused the opposition’s proposal for ceasefire to be implemented in Ramadan? Can he tell us why he used to escalate militarily in Aleppo and elsewhere whenever peace talks were close?
Assad also said that losing people as refugees is like losing human resources. How can you build a country without human resources?
One would wonder what resources Assad is talking about after all this killing and displacement. Assad even denied mass torture, killings and targeting hospitals and civilians, as there is, as he believes, no proof. All evidence submitted by all international agencies and all documentations are nothing to Assad. The man is either deaf or he has chosen not to listen.
