أظهرت الدراسة البريطانية التي أجرتها شركة (one Poll) أن ثلث البالغين يصابون بالقلق من مادة الرياضيات، وبأن لا شيء يسبب الرعب لبعض الطلاب أكثر من حل مسائل الرياضيات .
وبحسب وكالة سكاي نيوز اليوم فإن واحدا من كل خمسة طلاب منهم يخافون هذه المادة بدرجة تفوق الإصابة بالأمراض، في حين أن عددا كبيرا من الطلبة يحاولون تجنب أي شيء له علاقة بالأرقام والبيانات.
واعترف بعض الطلاب بأنهم لم يركزوا أصلا بدروس الرياضيات، فهي على حد تعبيرهم لا تساعدهم في حياتهم العملية، وفق المصدر.
وأشار المصدر إلى أن معدو الدراسة تخوفوا من هذه النتائج وأكدوا أن مادة الرياضيات هي مهارة أساسية ومهمة وتساعد الأفراد في مجالات شتى.
وفي سياق متصل قال الخبير التربوي والتعليمي الدكتور محمد خليل موسى بأن “الرياضيات مخيفة لبعض الناس بسبب اختلاف المهارات من شخص لآخر، وأن طريقة التدريس الرتيبة مسؤولة بشكل كبير عن هذه النسب، حيث أن علوم الحساب الأساسية يجب تعلمها بما يخدم متطلبات حياتنا اليومية، وأن الرياضيات تحتاج لمدرسين يعملون على إيصال المعلومة بسلاسة وسهولة.
