تتواصل في دمشق أعمال مكافحة حشرة سوسة النخيل الحمراء عبر حملة تنفذها مديرية زراعة دمشق وريفها بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية، بهدف الحد من انتشار الآفة التي تهدد أشجار النخيل في المدينة.
وبحسب مديرية الزراعة، جرى حتى الآن إزالة نحو 60 نخلة مصابة من الحدائق العامة والطرقات والمرافق الخدمية، مع نقلها إلى مواقع مخصصة للتخلص منها وفق المعايير البيئية المعتمدة.
كما تشمل الحملة رش أشجار النخيل السليمة بالمبيدات المتخصصة وتعليق مصائد فرمونية في عدد من المواقع لرصد الحشرة وجذبها، ما يساعد على خفض أعدادها وتقليل الحاجة إلى استخدام المبيدات الكيميائية في المناطق المأهولة.
وتأتي هذه الإجراءات ضمن خطة متواصلة لحماية أشجار النخيل ومنع توسع نطاق الإصابة في دمشق وريفها.
