ذكرت صحيفة CBC news الكندية اليوم الأحد 22 أيلول (سبتمبر) ووفقًا لترجمتنا وبقلم الصحفية مادي رايان من سي بي سي نيوز فيلم سكيت للمخرج نيك سيكستون، يظهر لاجئون سوريون في فيلم جديد من إنتاج سانت جونز، تمت استضافتهم في عرض خاص، مع ترجمة باللغة العربية.
تمت دعوة أفراد المجتمع السوري في منطقة سانت جونز لحضور عرض خاص لفيلم سكيت. لعب العديد منهم أدوارًا خلفية. الممثل السوري الشهير جهاد عبدو هو أحد النجوم. (مايك روسيتير/سي بي سي) عُرض فيلم “نيوفاوندلاند نوار” سكيت لأول مرة في مهرجان أتلانتيك السينمائي في هاليفاكس الأسبوع الماضي. وفي وقت سابق من هذا الأسبوع، عاد الفيلم إلى المجتمع في قلب قصته.
تدور أحداث أحدث أفلام نيك سيكستون في تشالكر بليس، وهو حي منخفض الدخل تاريخيًا في سانت جونز والذي أصبح مأهولًا بالعائلات التي فرت من الصراع في سوريا. عندما يخرج الشخصية الرئيسية بيلي سكينر من السجن ويعود إلى تشالكر بليس، يبدأ في الشعور بأنه غريب بنفسه.

نشأ توم في سانت جونز، لكن والده لا يتحدث الإنجليزية. هذا هو أحد الأسباب التي دفعت سيكستون إلى تقديم فيلم Skeet مع ترجمة عربية في عرض خاص يوم الثلاثاء في مسرح Majestic في وسط مدينة سانت جونز. يدور فيلم “Skeet” حول رجل يعود إلى منزله من السجن ليكتشف أن عددًا من العائلات السورية انتقلت إلى المنطقة، مما جعله يشعر وكأنه سمكة خارج الماء. تدور أحداث الفيلم في حي سانت جونز. في يوم الثلاثاء، كان هناك عرض للفيلم، مع ترجمة باللغة العربية للمجتمع السوري، وبعضهم تم اختيارهم للمشاركة في الفيلم.
قال سيكستون: “عندما بدأنا في التجول والتحدث إلى السوريين والشرق الأوسط، لاحظنا أن الكثير منهم لا يتحدثون الإنجليزية …” “أردنا حقًا أن يستمتع والد [توم] ووالدته وجميع أنواع العائلات من الشرق الأوسط في نيوفاوندلاند بالفيلم بالإضافة إلى الناطقين باللغة الإنجليزية.” هذه هي المرة الأولى التي يرى فيها توم نفسه على الشاشة الكبيرة، ولا يمكن لوالديه أن يكونوا أكثر فخرًا. يقول إن والده أحب الفيلم كثيرًا، ويعرب عن امتنانه لكل من عمل فيه.
