وفي سياق متصل، نقلت تقارير صحفية عن الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب تصريحه بأنه لا يعارض تعليق إيران برنامجها النووي لفترة قد تمتد إلى 20 عامًا، شرط أن يكون ذلك التزامًا فعليًا وقابلًا للتحقق على أرض الواقع
كما أشار ترمب إلى أن الرئيس الصيني عبّر له عن موقف رافض لامتلاك إيران سلاحًا نوويًا
على الجانب الإيراني، قال وزير الخارجية عباس عراقجي في مؤتمر صحفي يوم الجمعة 15 أيار، إن جهود الوساطة الباكستانية بين طهران وواشنطن لم تتوقف، لكنها تواجه تعقيدات متزايدة نتيجة ما وصفه بالسلوك الأميركي
وأضاف أن ملف تخصيب اليورانيوم يُعد من أكثر القضايا حساسية، موضحًا أنه تم التوصل إلى تفاهم أولي مع الجانب الأميركي يقضي بإرجاء بحث هذا الملف إلى مراحل لاحقة من المفاوضات الجارية بين الطرفين
