ذكرت وسائل إعلام محلية اليوم الجمعة 10 كانون الثاني (يناير) أن البضائع المحولة وإزالة نقاط التفتيش التابعة للنظام السابق ساعدت في خفض تكلفة المواد الأساسية، و قد شهدت أسعار المواد الغذائية في سوريا انخفاضًا كبيرًا منذ انهيار نظام الأسد المخلوع وتحرير سوريا في أوائل كانون الأول (ديسمبر) الماضي.
وأصبحت العديد من المواد الغذائية الآن بسعر النصف مقارنة بأسعارها قبل تقدم قوات المعارضة وتحرير المدن السورية، في حين عادت بعض السلع التي لم تكن متوفرة من قبل مثل اللحوم ذات الجودة العالية والليمون إلى المتاجر في الأسواق.
وقال أصحاب المتاجر إن انخفاض الأسعار جاء نتيجة لانخفاض تكاليف النقل بعد إزالة آلاف الحواجز العسكرية في جميع أنحاء البلاد، حيث كان العسكريون يطالبون بشكل روتيني بدفع أموال مقابل المرور الآمن عبر نقاط التفتيش، مما أدى إلى زيادة كبيرة في تكلفة نقل الغذاء من المزارع إلى السوق، ومع اختفاء نقاط التفتيش، انخفضت أسعار العديد من السلع.
وبحسب موقع تتبع أسعار الصرف الأجنبي، ارتفعت أسعار الدولار في السوق السوداء مقابل الليرة السورية إلى 22 ألف ليرة سورية تقريبًا في وقت سقوط الأسد المخلوع، لكنها استقرت منذ ذلك الحين عند حوالي 12 ألف ليرة سورية هذا الأسبوع.
