Massive destruction occurred in the Syrian areas after liberating them from regime forces by rebellion factions. Regime forces caused severe damages to houses and understructures besides dozens martyrs whose bodies remained buried under the ruin and stone of their houses.
All that and with the brutality of airstrikes by military fighters missiles and helicopters barrel bombs besides the increasing cases of dying under the rubble; ” Syrian Civil Defense” was found by men who have noble goal which is to offer a hand to the Syrians who killing machine of regime has targeted them for refusing to surrender or to leave their houses despite all what go through in the areas that are out of regime-held .
They are volunteers of different ages, different careers and even different educational certificates, but the one will gather them in facing the violence launched against civilians by helping the victims in offensives despite the lack of tools and vehicles needed to pull the people buried under the ruins or to remove the stones and rubbles.
Up to 115 center linked to the Syrian civil defense facility are found in eight different Syrian provinces where the first has been found in Idlib province. The center in Idlib province includes 3000 volunteers whose basic aim is to do their best in order to save as much as possible after the shelling targeting their district where they work with a difference from those who work in the world and it is unsafety.
“Mohammed” from Jiser-Alshogure city in the western countryside of Idlib and aged twenty, has left his collage in Tishreen University in Lattakia to join the civil defense as a journalist working on documenting the cases that civil defense groups of his center has respond to particularly after liberating his city Jiser-Alshogure in April 2015, said: ” I started working with a team of volunteers where at first we were 10 people to increase later after liberating my city from regime forces. We have responded to dozens calls after escalating the airstrikes and artillery bombardment on the city; we have pulled several people out of the rubble, extinguished fires caused by warplanes although we have few necessary tools and trucks, but civilians aided us”.
It was recorded that some of civil defense members were martyred and wounded especially after the Russian interference in Syria in late September in 2015, the Syrian network of human rights issued in 22th of May this year a report bringing to the spotlight the violations committed against civil defense members by regime forces. it authenticated killing 106 members of civil defense where 99 of them were killed by regime forces and three by the Russian forces while four by unknowns. The authenticated arresting cases reached 16 some of them were carried out by strict Islamic factions according to what the network described. The report also documented 66 cases targeting centers of civil defense by Russian and regime forces.
Civil Defense teams are still working on till this moment doing their best to help the civilians in raids and offensives. “Haitham Alhassan” a member of civil defense center in Kalley town in Idlib Countryside was killed today while another was wounded due to raids targeting Termaneen town on the countryside of the province.”
With these sacrifices and despite death threatening the members of Syrian civil defense and the difficulties facing them, they refuse to surrender or to stop doing their humanitarian duty for the civilians who are experiencing methodological killing in the conflict taking place in Syria.
