Through the very long years of the Syrian Revolution which has called for freedom for the people; the Syrian mother’s role has been one of the greatest ones for being the most suffered one because she may be the martyr, the martyr’s mother, the martyr’s wife or the martyr’s sister; besides getting arrested, suffering and kidnaping the thing which made Syrians’ pages on social media get filled with doubled pain. The mother keeps remember her missed son for years regardless their political or religious rootlessness; sad is the same in their hearts.
Only in the Syrian mother’s heart unbearable pains and suffering can not be described for its enormousness, gather. Her inbred function is not only about carrying her sons for nine months. So many of them carry their sons on their heads martyrs and among their heads the torn carnage and limbs or under the rubble and stones dead bodies.
When we visit a location of shelling and destruction in burned Aleppo, we talked to a mother who accompanied the corpse of her son to the graveyard. She revealed to us her deep grieve:” Probably the most painful thing is for a mother to participate in escorting her martyred son’s body, or to bear him on her head and in her hands while she is unable to offer him any help.. I wish I could have saved you with my soul and body or I would have gone before to the grave”.
In wounded Syria, there are more than one “Syria’s Khansa”- a mother of four martyred sons- where it has been recorded hundreds cases of mothers who lost more than one of her children; some of them lost four while others lost six.
Om-Hany is a Syrian mother from Idlib countryside where she lost two sons of hers. The was martyred due to being shot by a sniper on the roads leading the Idlib city, while the other one was martyred after getting shot when he tried to save a family where he was injured with a shrapnel at the time a missile targeted the house.
With moaning and groaning, she told us:” great pain befalls me for losing my dear son, but mu only consolation is that both of them are martyrs.. who a unmerciful hatred targeted, and I pray may Allah gather me with them before Him who will give us our right”.
At the time Om-Hany can visit her sons’ graves to sit on a solid hosting them, many other mothers who lost their sons in the sea swallowed by its waves so their bodies settles down in the bottom not differentiating between a young or an old person while attempting to seek asylum in refuging countries in Europe.
Despite all the pain sand miseries befalling the Syrian mothers, they determined to continue their revolution against oppression; the blood of their sons can not be wasted for nothing.
The Syrian mothers are still expecting at any moment before those brutal escalations carried out by a regime whose violence increases with the Russian support, to lose a son of hers, but hoping the war can come to an end soon.
