Mohammed Alshaar, regime minister of interior declared in a speech in Alshaaeb Counsel ( the parliament) on 24th in current July that the ministry was working on issuing a passport for the citizens while being at home and that the operation will be done by applying the ordinance of turn and electronic archiving, the thing would shorten time save time and effort once retrieval any information.
This step came, according to Alshaar, due to the suffering of citizens and the severe crowdedness in “Immigration and Passports” institutions in Syria. Issuing a passport may require booking two months earlier, while before now it needed only one day, considering the Syrians wish to travel abroad.
Alshaar proceeded contradicting his talk that the number of daily issued passports in Syria had decreased according to the latest statistics. He pointed out that the reason for this statistics was due to the difficulty to travel in addition to the bad way of treatment the Syrians were receiving outside the country.
Officials’ statements are as usual mocked by Syrians for being the opposite of what really going on in the reality and not reasonable most of the time. One of the comments on the news:” seriously thank you sir minister because the Syrian citizen is living a luxurious life but is missing the passport to be delivered to his house where then his comfort and happiness will be completed.. we appreciate your kindness and generosity.. no need for to be burdened to deliver it to our house. Thanks we can bring it.”
Probably Syrians are the only ones who know what is the meaning of “issuing a passport” particularly speaking about the young men since the facilities of “Immigration and Passports” in areas held by regime forces become a means taking advantage of citizens’ desperate need for passports to arrest young men. That is why the decrease of daily passports for fearing arrestment and torture inside regime prisons.
Most comments were focused on the same idea which is what is the use of passports at the time there is no Arabic or foreign country receive them? It is worthless nowadays at the time all countries are tightening restrictions specially Lebanon.
It is so obvious and clear and obvious that regime facilities and institutions are following the policy of bribes and probably “immigration and Passports comes first considering this. The minister is not wrong cause who wants a passport whether his pro regime or opposing regime; alive or dead can have his passport being delivered to his house once paying for officials and officers.
In progressive countries laws are issued for the sake of citizens but in Syria it is not that at all. All what the government does is issuing laws and releasing statements away from reality and the people problems and suffering. It seems there is no hope that this government may change its policy.
