Arizona Senator John McCain has spoken to Christiane Amanpour on CNN as dozens of US State Department officials break with what they call failed US policy in Syria.
“It is not ISIS that has barrel bombed thousands of innocent men, women and children. It is not ISIS that used chemical weapons to kill thousands of innocent men, women and children,” McCain said.
“You [Amanpour] know the atrocities that have been committed by Bashar al-Assad,” he said, arguing that the US did not attempt in any way to not only end Assad’s atrocities, but also to “impede this unholy alliance between Iran Syria and Russia,” he continued.
He explained that we saw US’ Middle East policy fail when ISIS moved to Syria because it was at that time when President Obama ordered the withdrawal of all of US’ troops, leaving a “destabilized” Iraq.
John McCain, the most opponent of Obama’s administration and its foreign policy, said – in an exclusive interview with Orient News TV on the 9th of last March – Obama caused a great deal of damage to the US interests.
