The General Foundation for Prisoners’ Affairs (GFPA) said on Thursday it has the bodies of the five Russian crew members whose helicopter was shot down in Idlib and demanded the release of prisoners in exchange for their corpses.
The Russian military helicopter was downed in the opposition-held Idlib on Monday, which lead to the death of all five people on board. This is the biggest loss of life officially acknowledged by Russian forces since they started intervention in Syria.
GFPA demanded the release of prisoners held in Assad regime’s and Hezbollah’s jails. However, no details about the identity or the number of the prisoners were given.
GFPA also demanded ending the siege of the areas besieged by Assad terrorists and their allies, and delivering significant amounts of humanitarian aid to those living in besieged areas.
In a statement by GFPA, the identity cards of those killed in the crash were shown.
It is worthy to mention that Russian Ministry of Defense said on Monday that the Mi-8 military transport helicopter had been shot down “after delivering humanitarian aid” to the city of Aleppo as it was on its way back to Hmeimim air base in Latakia.
