Due to missing the means to stay warm and the small amounts of aids, thousands Syrian refugees who survived a long brutal war, face winter miseries and suffering; tough and heavy pains are all what is left for those who flee the war taking place in Syria as burdens which is heavy as iron intensively forced them to abandon their properties to run away for their lives.
With the attacks of cold as temperature degrees decreased in most areas in the northern Syria and along the border strip with Turkey, a low strikes the region increasing the miseries of refugees and displaced from Aleppo northern countryside and facing a different kind of suffering.
Because of the growing number of refugees, the need for basic necessities aggravated as the number reaches 300 thousand persons in random camps that has spread for years without services to enable them to face the fatal cold.
Probably it is not fair to shorten their need of humanitarian needs and the financial support, since those displaced have greatly scarified and stood strong before the military force that exhausted them by bombardment and killing; they held on to the land to defend it refusing the strategy of forcing displacement preferring siege and death out of hanger to displacement.
The fragile bodies of children can not tolerate the freezing of winter in weak tents with aids that lack a lot the support.
Because of a cold he could not bear, Abo Mazen (who is aged 39 years) was shaking while he told:” Where to go.. The situation here is so dire; the children are crying .. We do not have gas or a heater.. What to do.. Weakness, death, humiliation and disrespect are what we are going through on daily basis here in the camp”.
With the heavy snows followed by rains, water mixed with dirt and sand leaked into most of the tents where some tents sank in mud and whose tent stood in the storm were happy that their children were not affected like those whose tent fell apart. Winter has come early with extremely low temperature degrees which led to several deaths most of them children whose fragile bodies could not bear the freeze. Due to the long term of conflict, others turn to be dealing with their suffering coldly in a way similar to the cold striking them where they curve in their tents near each other; children refuse to get their heads out of the tent fearing the unbearable cold denying them their simplest right to play, where they move in a small tent killing any childish activeness and desires.
Abo Mazen proceeded his speech with us as tears filled his eyes out of pain and suffering:” for how long can we stand strong in brutal bloody war which forced us to abandon our houses?.. We flee the fire of war to face the war of cold in refuging tents”.
