US Treasury Secretary Steve Menuchin said that a series of tough economic sanctions would be imposed on the Syrian regime, its partners and anyone is cooperating with it soon after it was finalized.
In a meeting with the US Treasury Secretary “Menuchin” with journalists after the American strike at the military airport, he assured them that a series of economic sanctions currently are studied would impose on the regime and its followers and would be very strict in contrast to previous economic sanctions..
The US administration and the European Union have imposed economic sanctions on many figures in the Syrian regime and leaders of the Iranian and Lebanese militias since 2012, but these sanctions have not benefited the Syrian people but increased the suffering of civilians.
It is worth mentioning that the United States targeted in Friday morning the military Shaerat airport by a dozens of missiles, “Tomahawk” as a warning to the regime not to use chemical weapons, in response to the attack with sarin gas on the city of Khan Sheikhon in the southern countryside of Idlib, last Tuesday, which led to the deaths of more than 80 civilians, and more than 300 others were suffocated.
