دعت منظمة العفو الدولية، في بيان لها، السلطات القبرصية إلى حماية اللاجئين من الهجمات العنصرية على خلفية الاحتجاجات والهجمات في ليماسول وكلوراكاس، مشددة على ضرورة اتخاذ خطوات فورية للتصدي للخطابات والانتهاكات العنصرية.
وقالت أدريانا تيدونا، باحثة الهجرة في المنظمة، إن السلطات القبرصية يجب أن تتخذ خطوات فورية لمعالجة سنوات من الخطاب العنصري المتفشي والخروج على القانون في البلاد، ودعتها إلى البدء في التحقيق في الهجمات في قبرص. تم اتخاذ إجراءات فورية ضد مدينتي كلوراكاس وليماسول وتم اتخاذ إجراءات حاسمة لمنع أي أعمال عنف في المستقبل.
وأشارت منظمة العفو الدولية إلى أن “المنظمات غير الحكومية العاملة من أجل المساواة وحقوق النساء المهاجرات واجهت ظروفاً صعبة للغاية منذ سنوات عديدة”، موضحة أنه “على خلفية الروايات السلبية، ليس من المستغرب أن يحدث العنف والاعتداءات الجسدية وينتشر ضد الممرضات على نطاق واسع.
وفي هذا السياق، أكد إيمانويل عشيري، رئيس قسم السياسات والمناصرة في منظمة “ENAR”، أن الهجمات الأخيرة ضد النساء المهاجرات هي نتيجة مباشرة للسياسات الحكومية التي تشجع العنصرية وخطاب الكراهية.
