وقال إيمانويل ماكرون في رام الله: “لا شيء يمكن أن يبرر” “معاناة” المدنيين في غزة. وفي نهاية لقائه مع محمود عباس، أكد الرئيس الفرنسي أن هجوم حماس على إسرائيل كان “كارثة أيضًا على الفلسطينيين”، وأعلن أنه “لا شيء يمكن أن يبرر معاناة” المدنيين في غزة. وقال إيمانويل ماكرون: “حياة الفلسطينيين تساوي حياة الفرنسيين ، وهي تساوي حياة إسرائيليين”.
وفي إسرائيل، قُتل أكثر من 1400 شخص، معظمهم من المدنيين ، في اليوم الأول للهجوم، بحسب السلطات. ومن جانبها، ادعت حماس أنه منذ بداية الصراع، تسببت الغارات الإسرائيلية على غزة في مقتل أكثر من 5791 شخصًا، غالبيتهم من المدنيين الفلسطينيين، بما في ذلك أكثر من 2360 طفلاً.
