علّقت الولايات المتحدة على المباحثات الجارية بين السعودية والنظام السوري لإعادة علاقاتهما الدبلوماسية، مؤكدة عدم تغيّر موقفها من التطبيع مع رأس النظام بشار الأسد، ولا تشجع الآخرين على التطبيع معه.
وأكد المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية وفق موقع i24news اليوم على عدم التطبيع مع النظام السوري حيث قال “لن نطبع مع نظام الأسد، ولن نشجع الآخرين على التطبيع في غياب تقدم حقيقي ودائم نحو حل سياسي يتماشي مع قرار مجلس الأمن رقم 2254”.
وأكد المصدر مواصلة حث أي شخص يتعامل مع دمشق على التفكير بإخلاص في كيفية أن يساعد تواصله مع النظام على توفير احتياجات السوريين المحتاجين وفي التقريب من حل سياسي للأزمة، مؤكدا على أنه “في أي تعامل مع النظام السوري يجب اتخاذ خطوات حقيقية لتحسين حال الشعب في سوريا”.
ودعا المتحدث شركاء الولايات المتحدة “إلى المطالبة بوصول المساعدات الإنسانية بشكل مستدام، بما في ذلك من خلال توسيع استخدام المعابر الحدودية”.
وكانت مصادر مطلعة قد أفادت بأن السعودية وحكومة النظام اتفقتا على إعادة فتح سفارتيهما ومعها العلاقات الدبلوماسية بعد قطعها أكثر من عقد.
