أصدر الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة السورية للبترول، يوسف قبلاوي، قرارًا بإغلاق مصفاة حمص النفطية القديمة، الواقعة في وسط سوريا، على أن يتم التخطيط لإنشاء مصفاة جديدة على بُعد نحو 50 كيلومترًا من الموقع الحالي، يأتي هذا القرار ضمن خطة استراتيجية لتطوير قطاع الطاقة في سوريا وتحسين إنتاج المشتقات النفطية المحلية
وأوضح قبلاوي في تصريحاته لوسائل الإعلام الحكومية أن الأرض التي تحتلها المصفاة القديمة ستستغل لإقامة مشروع تنموي متكامل، يهدف إلى تحويل المنطقة إلى منطقة سكنية حديثة، تتضمن بناء مستشفيات، مدارس، ومرافق خدمية عامة تلبي احتياجات السكان المحليين، ويأتي هذا المشروع في إطار إعادة تأهيل المناطق الصناعية وتحويلها إلى بيئات معيشية مزدهرة
وأشار الرئيس التنفيذي للشركة إلى أن المصفاة الجديدة، التي يتم التخطيط لها حاليًا، تهدف إلى تلبية احتياجات البلاد من المشتقات النفطية بشكل كامل، مع القدرة على الوصول في المستقبل إلى مرحلة التصدير، ما يعكس طموح الحكومة السورية في تعزيز الاكتفاء الذاتي من الوقود وزيادة إيرادات الدولة من خلال تصدير الفائض من المنتجات النفطية
وأكد قبلاوي أن المشروع يأتي ضمن استراتيجية شاملة لتطوير قطاع الطاقة في سوريا، تشمل تحديث البنية التحتية للمصافي، وتشجيع الاستثمار في مشاريع الطاقة، وتحسين كفاءة الإنتاج لضمان استقرار السوق المحلية من المشتقات النفطية، وتحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي تدريجيًا في هذا القطاع الحيوي
وفي ختام حديثه، لفت قبلاوي إلى أن العمل على المشروع الجديد يجري بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية لتوفير كافة المتطلبات الهندسية والفنية والمالية، بما يضمن استمرارية إنتاج المشتقات النفطية دون انقطاع أثناء عملية الانتقال من المصفاة القديمة إلى الجديدة
