وأعلن المتحدث باسم الجيش الإسرائيلي دانييل هاغاري خلال تحديث للوضع أن “جنودنا أكملوا تطويق مدينة غزة بعد أسبوع من بدء عمليته البرية في الأراضي الفلسطينية.
قال جو بايدن الأربعاء إنه يؤيد “هدنة” للسماح “للسجناء” بمغادرة قطاع غزة وردا على سؤال حول هذه التعليقات، أوضح البيت الأبيض في وقت لاحق أن الرئيس الأمريكي كان يشير بكلمة “السجناء” إلى الرهائن التابعين لحماس .
تم إجلاء مئات الجرحى الفلسطينيين والأجانب يوم الأربعاء من قطاع غزة، الذي يتعرض لقصف متواصل من قبل إسرائيل ، حيث قصفت، كما حدث في اليوم السابق، مخيم جباليا، حيث يعيش 116,000 لاجئ. وبالنسبة للمفوضية السامية لحقوق الإنسان التابعة للأمم المتحدة، فإن هذه التفجيرات يمكن أن تشكل “جرائم حرب”، “بالنظر إلى العدد الكبير من الضحايا المدنيين وحجم الدمار”.
وأدت الحرب إلى تفاقم التوترات على الحدود اللبنانية وفي الضفة الغربية المحتلة ، حيث قُتل أكثر من 125 فلسطينيا منذ 7 أكتوبر بنيران جنود إسرائيليين أو مستوطنين، وفقا للسلطة الفلسطينية. وحذرت الولايات المتحدة من أعمال العنف هذه التي تعتبر “مزعزعة للاستقرار بشكل لا يصدق”.
