ذكرت صحيفة Middle East Monitor نقلًا عن وكالة الأناضول اليوم الإثنين 29 تموز (يوليو) أن ألمانيا استبعدت تطبيع العلاقات مع سوريا بعدما حثت ثماني دول في الاتحاد الأوروبي على إعادة تقييم الاستراتيجية تجاه دمشق.
قال المتحدث باسم وزارة الخارجية الألمانية سيباستيان فيشر، في مؤتمر صحفي في برلين، إن الرسالة الأخيرة التي وجهتها دول الاتحاد الأوروبي إلى رئيس السياسة الخارجية في الاتحاد، جوزيب بوريل، “تحفز في النهاية عملية تفكير لفحص فعالية أدوات الاتحاد الأوروبي في سياسة سوريا. نحن منفتحون دائمًا على عملية التفكير، إذا جاز التعبير …”.
وأضاف: “لكن من الواضح أيضًا أن النظام السوري يعيق حاليًا أي تقدم في العملية السياسية وفقًا لقرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 2254 ويستمر في ارتكاب أخطر جرائم حقوق الإنسان ضد شعبه على أساس يومي وطالما أن الأمر كذلك، فلا يمكن للمرء حقًّا أن يسعى جاهدًا لتطبيع العلاقات مع النظام السوري”.
ويذكر أن وزراء خارجية النمسا وكرواتيا وإدارة قبرص اليونانية وجمهورية التشيك واليونان وإيطاليا وسلوفاكيا وسلوفينيا دعوا الأسبوع الماضي الكتلة إلى “مراجعة وتقييم” موقفها وسياستها تجاه سوريا، وأن “هدفهم هو سياسة أكثر نشاطًا وتوجهًا نحو النتائج وعملية في سوريا”. و كانت إيطاليا أول المطبعين مع النظام السوري و أول دولة في مجموعة السبع الكبرى تعين سفيرًا لها لدى النظام السوري منذ يومين.
