قال رئيس الوزراء السوري المؤقت محمد البشير “عودوا”، وهو يناشد جميع السوريين في الخارج العودة إلى وطنهم. وبالنسبة للحكومة التي يقودها المتمردون، والتي أطاحت بنظام الرئيس السابق بشار الأسد ، فإن إعادة اللاجئين السوريين تشكل أولوية.
وقال البشير في مقابلة مع صحيفة كورييري ديلا سيرا الإيطالية: “إن رأس المال البشري والخبرة التي يمتلكونها ستسمح للبلاد بالازدهار. إن ندائي موجه إلى جميع السوريين في الخارج: سوريا الآن دولة حرة اكتسبت كرامتها وفخرها. عودوا. يجب أن نعيد البناء ونولد من جديد ونحن بحاجة إلى مساعدة الجميع”.
تشير البيانات التي قدمتها مفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين (حتى 11 ديسمبر/كانون الأول 2024) إلى أن 6.3 مليون سوري يعيشون كلاجئين، منتشرين في 130 دولة. كما نزح ما يصل إلى 7.4 مليون سوري داخليًّا. ويقيم أكثر من نصف اللاجئين في تركيا المجاورة، التي استوعبت أكثر من 3.1 مليون نازح سوري. كما ينتشر اللاجئون في بلدان أخرى في المنطقة، بما في ذلك لبنان والأردن والعراق ومصر.
وبحسب المفوضية العليا للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين، يعيش خمسة في المائة فقط من السوريين في مخيمات اللاجئين. ولكن ليس الكثير من اللاجئين خارج المخيمات في حال أفضل كثيرًا. إذ يعيش أكثر من 70 في المائة من اللاجئين السوريين في فقر دون الحصول على التعليم والتوظيف.
وعندما أجبرت قوات المعارضة الأسد على الفرار إلى روسيا في الثامن من كانون الأول (ديسمبر)، كان ذلك يعني أن الحرب الأهلية انتهت. وبدأت العديد من الدول الأوروبية تفكر في إعادة اللاجئين إلى أوطانهم. وقد أوقفت عدة دول مضيفة مؤقتًا منح اللجوء للسوريين، ومن بينها ألمانيا والنمسا وإيطاليا والنرويج وهولندا وسويسرا وفرنسا وبلجيكا والمملكة المتحدة.
قالت وزيرة الداخلية نانسي فايزر في منشور على موقع X إن الوضع في سوريا “مربك للغاية حاليًا” وبالتالي، سيكون من “غير المهني التكهن” بشأن عودة اللاجئين في “مثل هذا الوضع المتقلب”. وعلى عكس هذا الرأي، قال أحد كبار الشخصيات المعارضة، ينس سبان، إن الحكومة يمكن أن تعرض عليهم 1000 يورو ورحلات طيران مجانية للمغادرة. وعلق رئيس وزراء بافاريا ماركوس سودر أنه مع التغيير في الوضع في سوريا، “يختفي سبب اللجوء فعليًا، وبالتالي لا يوجد سبب قانوني للبقاء في البلاد”.

لقد عاش السوريون لفترة طويلة في حالة من المنفى. ولا يزال العديد منهم طالبي لجوء، ولكن لم يتم منحهم وضع اللاجئ بعد. ومع تولي الحكومة المعارضة السلطة، أفادت التقارير أن الآلاف من اللاجئين السوريين عادوا. ومع ذلك، لا توجد إحصاءات رسمية حتى الآن.
